DRYD - DRYD

Making a use of tomato edible peels

105,000,000 kilos of tomatoes were wasted in Jordan in the last season. The Jordanian agricultural sector lost 17,000,000$ through this incident. As a result, 1.5 billion additional litres of methane are now affecting our planet. Last January, 4000 Jordanian farmers spoiled their own crops due to the low selling prices to prevent more loss. Surprisingly, this is not a onetime incident, it was found that 60-70% of undamaged edible tomatoes are being left in the field in countries like Egypt Australia and Nigeria, because they do not meet retailers' expectations so only about 45%-60% of the total harvestable crop reached consumers. We solve the excess tomato problem. While offering a sustainable solution for farmers with no cost on them, which includes drying and storing. Farmers only get a tiny value of their tomatoes because prices are dictated by those that come next in the supply chain, while DRYD give farmers double their usual profit. And give them 10% of the fixed price of tomatoes during harvest. We do not use chemicals to peel the tomatoes like other companies. DRYD will easily adopt this plan and will help democratize the supply chain.

"Their idea is to use the wasted edible tomato peels that almost all restaurants produce during the preparation of their meals, and transform it into a tomato flavored salt product. They aim through their product to reduce the harmful effects of tomato waste to save the environment, and to positively impact the society by providing jobs for people in need"
