TAKALAM - Autonomously configured anti-stuttering wearable device

Using machine learning and IoT for stuttering cure

According to America's stuttering foundation, more than 70 million people worldwide suffer from stuttering.4.1 million are located in the MENA region. 5% of all children go through a stuttering period in their life that may last for 6 months or leave them with a life long problem, and there is no real cure for stuttering. So, teaching those children and adults how to speak basic words on concepts is a time and effort consuming process.

Accordingly, the aim of this Innovation is to develop a low-cost wearable device to assist people who suffer from the partial or total stuttering problem.  The Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) was followed to address the research problem effectively and achieve its specific objectives. The applied techniques were the choral approach, Frequency Altered Feedback (FAF), and Delay Auditory Feedback (DAF). Consequently, this device has been tested on seven subjects who suffer from stuttering, thus, this device succeeded in assisting 6 people to get rid of the stutter problem and in reducing this problem by more than 90%.
