Biography

Dr. Feras Kafiah received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Applied Materials and Manufacturing) in 2015. Prior to joining HTU, he worked as a researcher at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in a collaboration project with MIT. He is the inventor and co-founder of SmartCure startup. He received his BSc and MSc with honor in Materials & Metallurgical Engineering from the Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Dr. Kafiah’s previous and current focuses are on smart materials and structures, from the idea stage to the market. Dr. Kafiah is also in the technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and innovation practices as tools for technological entrepreneurs. He taught many courses in the field of materials and manufacturing and managed R&D projects for several factories in Jordan and Saudi Arabia mainly to optimize their production line and develop new materials and products. He won many prizes locally and in the Middle East in the area of technology entrepreneurship and innovation.
