Biography

Abdulkarim Albanna is an entrepreneur, educator and developer who has worked in the last 20 years to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Abdulkarim is the CِِِEO and the founder of Deep Brain startup. The co-founder of a Jordanian startup called TAKALAM, a company that provides solutions for hearing and speech disorders. He was rewarded with the Leaders in Innovation Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering (the UK, 2020). Karim is a PhD student at Loughborough University, England, working in deep learning and communication disorders; his Project is called "A Deep Learning Model Based on Time Interval Annotation for Disfluency Detection for People Who Stutter". In addition, he received many scientific honours and awards, including The Best software idea in Jordan, honoured by King Abdullah the second(Dead sea,2011). The University of Petra award for best Inventor on his patent Portable Neck Treatment Device(2019) and (2022). Best Inventors and researchers in the Jordanian universities awarded by the Minister of Higher Education (Amman, 2019). LIF community grant by The Higher Council For Science and Technology and The Royal Academy of Engineering(2020). Intel award for the best IoT device in the MENA region (Lebanon,2015). Moreover, Karim won more than 30 national and international competitions with his students, competitions such as (the Microsoft Imagine cup, Intel Challenge Me, Amazon Hackathon, and others) (2010-2020). Since graduation, he has published different scientific papers and patents in AI, IoT and Stuttering events detection.
